Lexis Library and Nexis UK – login issues

The technical team at Lexis are investigating an issue which is preventing login requests to both the Lexis Library and Nexis UK services from completing successfully.

Requests from the Find Databases service of Library OneSearch resolve to an error page that reports a problem in the communication exchange between the Lexis platform and NTU’s single sign-on environment.

A further update will follow once the issue is confirmed as resolved.

UPDATED, 17 February 2017 – 13:54:

Lexis’ support team have updated the library as follows:

We are currently experiencing an on-going issue with the LexisNexis academic sites and our network engineers are already aware of this error that you are getting and are now working to resolve this as soon as possible. As of now, we do not have a turnaround time to when will this be fixed, but I will send you an update as soon as the issue gets resolved. We would like to apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused you.

UPDATED, 17 February 2017 – 22:24:

While Lexis’ team continue to work on the underlying technical issues, the access URLs for both Nexis UK and Lexis Library have been updated in Library OneSearch in an attempt to provide a more stable access experience.

LexisLibrary and Nexis: maintenance downtime Saturday 16 March 2013

Scheduled maintenance work on the Lexis and Nexis platforms on Saturday 16 March 2013 will result in intermittent access and/or service interruption for most of the day. The company has published different ‘at risk’ periods in different communications, the longest of which is 04:00 to 17:00 GMT.

For LLR customers, the affected services are:

  • LexisLibrary
  • LexisPSL
  • Nexis UK

LexisLibrary and Nexis UK – access available once again

Lexis have confirmed that the problems preventing Shibboleth authentication on the Lexis Library and Nexis services have now been resolved.

Access to those services is now working normally again – and information in eSearch has been updated accordingly.

If you encounter any further difficulties accessing either service, please send full details to the eServices team (including any on-screen error messages).

Nexis UK – Athens authentication problems

A temporary problem affecting one of the authentication servers for the Nexis UK service is preventing some customers from accessing the service using an Athens username and password.

When the problem occurs, the customer login credentials are rejected and the following error message displays in the Athens login screen.

There was a problem processing your request. If the problem persists, please contact your local Athens administrator.

This problem occurs for customers who are either (a) logging in to the service for the first time ever; or, (b) logging in to the service for the first time from a different computer, or (c) logging into the service for the first time using a different browser (such as Firefox, rather than IE).

Library colleagues and university staff members who have previously accessed the service from their regular workstations (using their prefered browser) should not experience the same problems.

Unfortunately, there is no workaround for this problem for affected customers; but Nexis expect that technical work scheduled for this evening should correct the problem.

A further update will be provided once Nexis have confirmed that the service is again working normally.

Nexis UK and SFX

The SFX Knowledge Base has been updated to ensure that all newspapers and electronic journals that were previously individually listed on the Lexis Nexis Executive platform now redirect to Nexis UK. As all of the European Lexis platforms are still not yet OpenURL compliant, all of the title links only resolve the customer to the ‘homepage’ of the platform.
