THE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED issue preventing off-campus access to the Construction Information Service – off-campus access has now been resolved.
Off-campus access to the service is once again available via university username and password.
Off-campus access links in the Find Databases service to the LACORS and OHSIS databases have also been updated to ensure continuity of access.
Following a detailed review by the Research Support and Learning and Teaching teams, a number of changes have been made to the list of resources made available through the Find Databases service of Library OneSearch (which will also be reflected, later today, in searches in the ‘All’ search tab of LOS). The changes are detailed below:
- AEI (Australian Education Index)
- British Library Sounds
- Child Development and Adolescent Studies
- Construction Information Service
- CPAG (Child Poverty Action Group) Online Publications
- Family Law Online
- Information Asset Register
- Interior Internet
- NBS Educator
- NBS TV
- Passport (formerly Passport GMID)
- Planning portal
- Biosciences Image Bank
- Women’s Studies
- WWW Virtual Library: Archnet

Access to the IHS databases OHSIS [Occupational Health and Safety Informmation Service], Lacors and CIS [Construction Information Service] is currently unavailable in Library OneSearch, following a technical failure on the IHS platform.
Access is normally direct on-campus and by university username and password from off-campus, but access requests for both routes currently resolve to the error message: ‘Unable to validate your IP address’
IHS’s technicians are working to resolve the problem, and in the meantime have provided a temporary access URL for Notttingham Trent University, details of which are available on request. (As this specially formatted URL grants access to anyone clicking on it, LLR cannot publish details on the openly accessible LLR site or in Library OneSearch.)
A further update will follow once it has been confirmed that this issue has been resolved.
Access to the LACORS service has been enabled in eSearch; access is direct on-campus and by university username and password from off-campus. The resource is described as follows:
LACORS provides information about local authority regulatory and selected services in the UK. Topics covered include food safety and hygiene, health and safety, environmental protectionm and animal health and welfare.
LLR’s subscription permits one staff member or student to access to the resource at any one time – a note to this effect has been added to the eSearch information screen.
