LLR’s subscription to 150+ titles on the Taylor and Francis eBook platform concludes at the end of December. The entry for T&F eBooks in eSearch will be withdrawn and all the individual eBook records will be removed from the Library Catalogue and SFX.
ejournal and eBook records to be added to ‘live’ ALEPH this week
June 25 2007During the course of this week, changes will be made to ‘live’ ALEPH to enable ejournal and eBooks to be made discoverable through the OPAC. There may be some very short interruptions in the OPAC service (lasting only a few seconds) while these changes are enacted. Initially, changes to the look of the OPAC record display (identical to those trialled in ‘test’ ALEPH) will be replicated in ‘live’ ALEPH, and eBook and ejournal records will then be loaded and indexed.
All SFX delivered ejournals and eBrary eBook records should be available through the ‘live’ OPAC by the end of the week, with records for Taylor & Francis, Knovel and other eBook providers available shortly after. Updates will be provided as the process progresses.
New platform: Informaworld Journals
February 5 2007The publishers Taylor & Francis are in the process of amalgamating all of their online content into a single platform: Informaworld. At present, previous access routes to T&F content are being maintained while the new platform is embedded but these are scheduled for withdrawal in due course.
Access to all of the ejournals LLR subscribes to from Taylor & Francis, Routledge, Carfax and Psychology Press has now been enabled in Informaworld via SFX.
Informaworld supports both inbound and outbound OpenURL linking. However, inbound SFX linking is only possible to the journal title rather than the article level – so the boxes for Year, Volume, Issue and Start Page are not presented in the SFX menu (see illustration below), as they have no effect on the ability to ‘drill down’ below the title level directly from an SFX request.

Access is direct on-campus; with an Athens username and password required for off-campus access. Off-campus users need to click on the SIGN IN and then the athens sso links before entering their Athens username and password (see illustration below).

Access to full-text ejournal content on Informaworld for which LLR has a subscription may be either Full or Partial.
Where full-text access is available to all of the issues provided by Informaworld, a single icon will display below the bibliographic data indicating that ‘You have ACCESS’ (see illustration below).

Where access to full-text content is Partial, the icon beneath the bibliographic data will indicate ‘You have PARTIAL ACCESS’ and an additional ACCESS icon will appear next to each issue for which full-text content is accessible.

Outbound OpenURL linking is provided through the references section of ejournal articles – when these are presented in .html rather than .pdf format. Clicking on the [your library's links] link (see illustration below) will generate an SFX menu based on the metadata of the reference. In other words, you can submit a reference from an article straight to SFX to see what services are available from SFX for that material (It is hoped to be able to customise the link text shortly – changing it to Find it @ NTU.)

Please be aware that it is currently not possible to search Informaworld remotely through eSearch; and the Informaworld platform is not Cross-Ref enabled (so SFX cannot process DOI requests for Informaworld content directly from Citation Linker).
LLR’s collection of 180 Taylor & Francis eBooks is available through Informaworld as well as through the etailer.dpsl.net platform, and future resource discovery options for this content are now being assessed, as part of the wider developments on eBook discovery.
