JSTOR – full Shibboleth integration

April 8 2010

LLR has now secured full Shibboleth based authentication on the JSTOR platfrom (previously LLR was providing off-campus access to JSTOR through a Shibbolized eZproxy connection). This means that off-campus LLR customers can access the correct login screen directly in the JSTOR interface (and not only through an SFX connection to the service). A guide to using Shibboleth on JSTOR has been added to the eServices Support wiki.

JSTOR – off-campus access constraint

September 5 2009

eServices is working with the JSTOR service to identify a problem affecting Shibboleth authentication from off-campus. Currently is not for a customer to select an NTU Shibboleth login link in the native interface of JSTOR. However, if an off-campus customer selects a link to JSTOR in eSearch, SFX or the LLR Library Catalogue, they will be able to log in to the service using their university username and password.

In short: LLR customers needing off-campus access to JSTOR must access the service through eSearch, SFX or the Library Catalogue in order to log in successfully.

JSTOR – remote and metasearching re-enabled in eSearch

May 9 2008

Remote and metasearching of the JSTOR platform has now been re-enabled in eSearch following the deployment of an updated search configuration.

JSTOR – remote and metasearching suspended in eSearch

April 10 2008

Unanticipated changes in the JSTOR XML gateway in recent days have caused problems with remote and metasearching configurations in eSearch. Ex Libris expect to be able to release an updated search configuration shortly, which LLR will apply as soon as it is released. In the meantime, both individual remote and metasearching of JSTOR has been temporarily suspended in eSearch.

JSTOR have also reported late yesterday that the platform is experiencing intermittent problems with Athens authentication, which JSTOR expect to resolve ‘within the next 24 hours’.

LION (Literature Online) – direct links to JSTOR materials

March 14 2008

From a list of search results in LION, it is also possible (where certain thresholds are met) to link directly to the full-text of materials held within the JSTOR archive. The direct link to the JSTOR full-text will only appear where material is included as part of NTU’s JSTOR subscription profile – in other words, such links should be relied upon to resolve to the appropriate full-text.

TESOL Quarterly – now available via JSTOR

January 24 2007

Full-text archival access to TESOL Quarterly (from 1967 until 2001) is now available via the JSTOR collection. For this reason, it is planned to withdraw the TESOL Quarterly networked CD-ROM (which provides full-text for 1967-2000) in due course – following ALT consultation over timing.
